Pretty much, an interrupt-heavy marksman is the 'ultimate' bow wielder.
Bows suck for damage, basically. They fire slow and most of the DD skills are terribaed. Penetrating Shot and Power Shot are some of the weakest attack skills in the whole of Guild Wars.

If you want to deal damage as a ranger, Proph only, go thumper.
[skill]hammer bash[/skill][skill]crushing blow[/skill][skill]ferocious strike[/skill][skill]tiger's fury[/skill][skill]comfort animal[/skill][skill]charm animal[/skill][skill]resurrection signet[/skill] ... then some other attack skill for the last slot, Irresistable Blow, Distracting Blow, Disrupting Lunge, etc.

I like that, though I'd use [wiki]Bestial Mauling[/wiki] in the last spot. Combine with a Rit for a Weapon Spell for more fun.

Rangers aren't all that good at DPS. But if you want DPS with a bow, and you only have Prophecies, then [skill=text]Quick Shot[/skill] + preps and/or Conjures is probably the way to go.

Is a spike, not DPS.
Quick Shot is a better skill for pressure. Even then, it's still pretty poor.
Thumpers > archers for pressure.
